Frequently Asked Questions

Flowcus is an intelligent task management app for macOS that helps you collate your tasks into a single, holistic view so you can prioritise and complete them more effectively. It integrates with OmniFocus, Things and TaskPaper. Flowcus goes beyond simple visualisation with features like Radar (which surfaces the tasks you should focus on), Ghost Detection (which finds neglected or vaguely defined work), rule-based automation, and an AI-powered Sidekick.

Flowcus integrates with OmniFocus (Pro edition), Things and TaskPaper. You can use multiple sources simultaneously and visualise tasks from all of them together on a single board.

After installing Flowcus, launch it and follow the onboarding guide. To connect OmniFocus, Things or TaskPaper, go to Settings → Sources and enable the integration you want. Flowcus will prompt you to grant the necessary permissions.

Flowcus requires a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, or later) running macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later. Intel Macs are not supported. For OmniFocus integration, you'll need OmniFocus 3 or later (Pro edition required). For Things integration, you'll need Things 3 or later.

Not currently but Flowcus has a built-in task management engine in development. Once available, you'll be able to use Flowcus as a complete standalone system.

Radar analyses your open tasks each day and presents the 3–5 you should focus on, scored by urgency, momentum, and neglect — with clear reasons why each one ranked. It helps you start your day with confidence rather than scanning your entire board trying to decide what to work on first.

Ghost Detection finds the tasks you've been avoiding — the vaguely defined ones, the stale ones, and the ones that slipped backward — and prompts you to deal with them before they become dead weight. Tasks are flagged as ghosts based on criteria like staleness, vague naming, backward movement, and lack of detail, each contributing to a severity score.

The Command Palette provides fast, keyboard-driven access to everything in Flowcus. Open it with ⌘⇧P and start typing to navigate to tasks, execute commands using natural language, create or move tasks, toggle views, and access Sidekick actions — all without reaching for the mouse.

Sidekick is an AI assistant built directly into your workflow. It integrates with your local or remote LLM to help you refine vague tasks into clear, actionable items, break down large tasks into smaller subtasks, and plan next steps — all without leaving the board. Access it via File → Sidekick or by pressing ⌘⇧N.

If you want to use Flowcus with OmniFocus, yes — Pro edition is required in order to fetch and update task information using AppleScript. However, you can use Flowcus with Things or TaskPaper without OmniFocus at all.

Yes! Your purchase of Flowcus is licensed for use on all your Macs. Your preferences and board layouts will not sync automatically between devices, but we're working on adding this feature in a future update.

Right-click on the task and choose "Block" from the context menu, or select the task and press B. You'll be prompted to provide a reason for the block. Blocked items are visually highlighted on the board and are deprioritised by Radar since you can't act on them.

Click on ... in the column header and then choose the maximum number of items allowed for that column. When the limit is exceeded, the column header changes colour to alert you.

Flowcus sends a single anonymous ping when you first install or upgrade to a new version. This tells us only the event type (install or upgrade), the app version, and that you're on macOS — nothing else. No personal data, device identifiers, or usage patterns are collected. The data is processed by GoatCounter, an open-source, privacy-first analytics service. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
